We try to be as flexible as possible in the provision of Instructor Training and courses will be individually structured to meet your needs as we believe that everyone is different and everyone learns in different ways. However, a typical course structure is as follows :
Introductory Session
This is free of charge and last approximately two hours. It includes an initial interview to explain everything in detail and to provide answers to the many questions which you are likely to have. We will also conduct a short assessment of your driving and will provide full details of the initial steps that you will need to undertake.
Training for the Part One Examination
Six hours of formal training plus free telephone and/or email support .
The six hours of formal training act as a “taster” to the entire course and is broken down as follows :
Two hours of initial driver training to enable you to start developing your driving skills for the Part Two examination whilst initially studying for the Part One Test.
Two hours of Instructional Training which will give you a “feel” for what’s involved in the Part Three Test of Instructional Ability.
Two hours of training for the Hazard Perception element of the Part One Test.
In addition we offer advice and guidance on the study skills required to pass the Part One examination.
Training for the Part Two Examination
Ten hours of in-car training aimed at ensuring that your driving will be good enough to enable you to reach the high standard required for you to pass the Part Two Test of Driving Ability.
The ten hours is usually broken down into 90 minute or two hour blocks and will need to be supplemented by private practice in your own vehicle.
Training for the Part Three Examination
The Part Three Test of Instructional Ability is the most demanding part of the whole course and will normally take 40 hours of fully structured training. The training is mostly in-car and is broken down into various inter linked modules of varying sizes ranging from 60 minutes to two hours. It is possible to link the modules together to form longer sessions if you find that more convenient.
The training for each part can be undertaken over shorter or more intensive periods if required . For example it would be possible to arrange your training as follows :
Part One – One day of six hours.
Part Two – Two days of 5 hours each.
Part Three – Six days of approximately 7 hours each day.
Full days or half days will include tea/coffee breaks and a break for lunch. If you would like to carry out your studies on a more intensive basis, we can arrange accommodation at a local B&B if you require it.
